- Don't study when your mind is not up to it. You'll get nothing out of it. You'll find yourself rereading sentences over and over again. And then you'll get the the point where your focusing so hard on focusing that you end up not focusing. Instead i promise myself that ill put studying first tomorrow.
- I do whatever i have to in order to get mah study mojo going. Certain people have routines, others have a designated space, some have a type of music or playlist the listen to. I make myself a beverage; horchata, preferably chai or thai tea with a splash of either tibetan or ginger honey, pineapple celery lemonade, hot chocolate, or whatever i feel like that day. Then i find a good study playlist on 8tracks.com. (pandoras ok but i don't want to be worried about the thumbs up or thumbs down debacle, plus 8tracks has playlist specifically built for studying). Then i get to studying.
- Don't be afraid to experiment with genres of music to study to. Some people can work with classical but not adult contemporary, you know? What works for me musically may not work for you. But with that in mind, i recently learned that soundtracks are good to try out for studying. They are designed to not interfere with your focus. I personally love the soundtrack to A Series of Unfortunate Events, particularly the song "The letter that never came"
- If you don't do well with distractions then consider to tell your family (if you live with them) to disturb you as little as possible. Consider headphones or earbuds.
